24/05/24 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 24 May, the European Commission adopted a regulation concerning derogation from the margin of tolerance in estimating catches for unsorted landings and transhipments from small pelagic, industrial and tropical tuna purse seiners fisheries. Regulation 1224/2009 (‘Control Regulation’) lays down rules and measures relating to the permitted margin of tolerance in estimates recorded in the fishing logbook of quantities in kilograms of fish retained on board fishing vessels. The Regulation lays down the conditions for the application of the derogation in question, including the list of EU and third country ports in which the landing and weighing of catches from the fisheries covered must take place, if the derogation from the margin of tolerance provided for is applied.
