24/05/24 (Agence Europe) – ACER will be launching a public consultation from 20 June to 18 July to gather the views of stakeholders on the introduction of voluntary templates for ‘Power Purchase Agreements’ (PPAs) in the EU energy market. PPAs are long-term contracts between electricity producers and buyers, encouraging the adoption of renewable energies. The EU regulation adopted on 21 May on the design of the electricity market (see EUROPE 13413/12) provides for measures to improve the adoption of PPAs and mandates ACER to assess the need to develop and publish voluntary templates for PPAs. Following the consultation, ACER will assess the feedback and may develop templates for PPAs in collaboration with the Nominated Electricity Market Operators (NEMOs) by winter 2024.
