On Thursday 15 May, the members of the European Parliament’s Committee on International Trade (INTA) adopted the report by Inese Vaidere (EPP, Latvian) on increasing customs tariffs for Russian and Belarusian agricultural products and certain fertilisers (see EUROPE B13567A1). Despite the reservations of some MEPs, the European Commission’s proposal – which Ms Vaidere proposed should be adopted as it stood – received a majority of votes (29 in favour, 6 against and 2 abstentions).
