Committee of Regions say 62% of local authorities lack funding to pursue ‘Fit for 55’ objectives

According to a study commissioned by the Commission for the Environment, Climate Change and Energy of the European Committee of the Regions (ENVE), which was published on Monday 5 May, local and regional authorities (LRAs) are facing major difficulties in implementing the climate objectives of the ‘Fit for 55’ package, the set of European legislative measures aimed at reducing net greenhouse gas emissions by 55% by 2030, compared to 1990 levels.
