05/05/2025 (Agence Europe) – The Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators (ACER) will give its opinion in July 2025 on the proposal of the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity (ENTSO-E) for the European Resource Adequacy Assessment (ERAA) 2024, as it pointed out on Monday 5 May. This proposal was received by the Agency in April and aims to provide an objective basis for identifying potential risks to the security of electricity supply in Europe and, if necessary, determining whether additional national measures are required, such as capacity mechanisms. At the same time, ACER has been commissioned by the European Commission to modify and rationalise the ERAA methodology (see EUROPE 13598/11). The Agency has therefore asked ENTSO-E to propose amendments to the methodology before mid-October 2025. ACER must decide on this proposal within three months of receiving it. (PLD)
