With fall in asylum applications from Syrians, Germany was no longer leading host country in EU in February, according to EUAA

In February 2025, Syrians submitted 5,000 applications, one of the lowest numbers of monthly asylum applications for more than ten years, representing a 70% drop compared to October 2024, the EU Agency for Asylum (EUAA) said in a statement on Monday 5 May.

“As a result, having been the main recipient country for Syrian asylum-seekers, Germany was no longer the main destination for asylum seekers in the EU+”.
