28/04/2025 (Agence Europe) – On a visit to the United States, the European Commissioner for International Partnerships, Jozef Síkela, called for the creation of conditions conducive to the mobilisation of private funding to achieve the global objectives of sustainable development. “We must work together with our partner countries and support structural reforms as well as domestic revenue mobilisation. Multilateral Development Banks are instrumental for these efforts”, he pleaded to the members of the Development Committee of the World Bank Group and the IMF in Washington on Thursday 24 April. “As a former banker, I know the private sector commits only when three basics are in place: stability, predictability, and clear, fair rules. That is exactly how we structure ‘Global Gateway’ projects”, he stated on X on Sunday 27 April, on the sidelines of further meetings with investors in New York. (BD)
