10/04/2025 (Agence Europe) – In its ‘Global Electricity Review 2025’ report, energy think-tank Ember revealed on Tuesday 8 April that clean energy will account for more than 40% of the world's electricity production by 2024. This is due in particular to record growth in renewable energies, especially solar power. Ember points out that solar generation was the main source of new electricity production worldwide (+474 TWh) and the fastest growing source of electricity (+29%) for the twentieth consecutive year. However, there was a slight increase in the production of fossil fuels, which pushed emissions from the electricity sector up to a record level. Increased use of air conditioning during heatwaves has contributed to strong growth in electricity demand, outstripping growth in clean electricity. To see the report: https://aeur.eu/f/gda (PLD)
