02/04/2025 (Agence Europe) – In an open letter on Monday 31 March, the Air Traffic Controllers European Unions Coordination (ATCEUC) warned of the risk of a total shutdown of air traffic control services in Bosnian-Herzegovinian airspace. The European air traffic network operator EUROCONTROL has frozen all payments to the Bosnia-Herzegovina Air Navigation Services Agency (BHANSA), following a verdict in arbitration proceedings between Bosnia and the Slovenian manufacturer Viaduct. Without urgent intervention, ATCEUC also fears the closure of international airports, the interruption of military, humanitarian and medical flights, including the missions of the EU force for the European Union’s military operation in Bosnia-Herzegovina (Operation Althea), and massive lay-offs of highly qualified personnel. It is therefore urgently appealing to the Belgian authorities to ensureEUROCONTROL’s financial stability. Read the letter: https://aeur.eu/f/g85 (AD)
