24/03/2025 (Agence Europe) – Florian Guillermet, Executive Director of the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), and Major General Jan Kuebart, Director of the German Military Aviation Authority (‘Luftahrtamt der Bundeswehr’), signed a bilateral agreement and arrangement to strengthen the safety of the European aviation system on Thursday 20 March in Cologne, Germany (see EUROPE 13602/2). This agreement is intended to implement the framework cooperation agreement previously signed in 2017, in order to: - describe the range of responsibilities for each authority; - understand and acknowledge each other’s airworthiness environment and claim credit for this to gain confidence in the data produced and sent by each authority; - set out the principles of working together from the design phase of the aircraft until its operation. This is the first agreement of its kind, but several others are in the pipeline. (AD)
