EU Council validates a new regulation improving EU labour market statistics for businesses

24/03/25 (Agence Europe)On Monday 24 March, the Council of the EU adopted a regulation improving EU labour market statistics on businesses, according to a press release. This concerns official statistics on the operation of businesses in relation to labour markets, in particular labour costs, wages, including the gender pay gap, and statistics on job vacancies. The new rules will ensure that these statistics are more up-to-date and comparable from one country to another. They also provide for better coverage of the economy and guarantee the collection of data on the pay gap between men and women. The new rules update existing legislation to improve the comparability of LMB statistics and increase coverage of the economy. An agreement with the European Parliament was reached in December.
