EU activates civil protection mechanism after nightclub fire in North Macedonia

17/03/2025 (Agence Europe) – The European Union activated its civil protection mechanism at the request of North Macedonia after a nightclub fire in Kocani on Sunday 16 March killed 59 people and injured more than 155. North Macedonia has asked for help in evacuating 15 people with serious burns. Croatia, Greece, Romania, Slovenia, Sweden, Lithuania, Hungary, Luxembourg and Norway have offered to help.
