17/03/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 17 March, the Single Resolution Board (SRB) launched a consultation with interested parties on future guidelines for the assessment by the major banks in the euro area banking union of their own resolution capabilities in the event of a major failure, in order to identify areas where improvements are needed. The draft guidelines identify: - the banking parameters to be tested as a priority, such as the financing of the resolution through an internal ‘bail-in’, liquidity, the internal restructuring of activities, etc.; - analysis methods and timetable; - the internal governance to be put in place. Other parameters, such as the valuation and segregation of assets or communication activities, will be dealt with at a later date, as the SRB is in the process of preparing an update of the policies relating to banking resolution.
