21/02/2025 (Agence Europe) – Expected in the week of 17 February, the third version of the ‘European General-Purpose Artificial Intelligence Code of Practice’ will not be published until the end of the month, or even early March. This is what the Commission website said on Friday 21 February. The Code should guide the development and deployment of future AI models within the EU to ensure their reliability. However, it is taking longer than expected to develop, mainly because of the uncertainties surrounding its signature by certain players in the sector (see EUROPE 13574/11) and the need to clarify certain points. In January, a dozen associations wrote to the Commission to warn that the first version of the Code was “in contradiction with EU copyright rules”. The final version of the Code is not expected to be published before May. (IS)
