21/02/25 (Agence Europe) – What if the EU took inspiration from France? This is what the NGO ClientEarth would like, welcoming the adoption of a restriction against persistent pollutants (PFAS) by French legislators on Thursday 20 February. Starting in 2026, the manufacture, import and sale of products containing PFAS will be prohibited in France for three categories of consumer goods: cosmetics, clothing textiles (excluding protective clothing for the professional sectors of security and civil protection, until 2030) and ski boots. However, the NGO deplored the fact that industrial uses (in sectors such as the automotive and electronics industries) were excluded: https://editorial.agenceurope.eu/ #on. EU-wide restrictions are currently under discussion, but the European Commission will not submit a proposal to ban PFAS in consumer products before 2026 (see EUROPE 13563/15). (FS)
