21/02/2025 (Agence Europe) – At the second high-level dialogue on climate change between Japan and the EU in Tokyo on Tuesday 18 February, the two sides reaffirmed their commitment to international cooperation under the Paris Agreement and to meeting the 1.5°C target, “regardless of the changing international situation, including the announcement of the United States’ withdrawal from the Paris Agreement”. They also emphasised their future cooperation to ensure a successful outcome to COP30 in Belém, Brazil in November and to promote global decarbonisation initiatives, particularly within the G7 and G20. The two partners also agreed to support each other in achieving the objectives of their respective climate neutrality programmes. (PLD)
