14/01/2025 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission announced on Tuesday 14 January that eTwinning, the EU’s leading initiative in cross-border school collaboration, which puts teachers in touch with each other, celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. The eTwinning programme forms part of the European Platform for School Education, an online space linking schools in 46 countries, which aims to make borderless learning accessible to all teachers and pupils. Over these two decades, more than 160,000 projects have involved over 3 million pupils within the eTwinning community, with the help of more than 1.2 million teachers from 295,000 schools. Since 2014, eTwinning has been supported by the Erasmus+ programme, in conjunction with other EU initiatives that provide opportunities for schools and educators.
