On Friday 13 December, the European Commission announced that it was allocating €132 million in 2025 to co-fund activities to promote “sustainable and high-quality” EU agri-food products in the internal market and worldwide. However, this is 29% less than in 2024 (see EUROPE 13530/7).
The 2025 work programme takes account of the overarching objectives of sustainability, competitiveness and food security as set out in the political guidelines for the 2024–2029 Commission.
The amounts available for the programmes to be selected in 2025 are divided between promotion in third countries (€63.4 million) and within the EU internal market (€58.6 million). A total of €92 million has been allocated for single programmes and €40 million for multiple programmes (submitted by several countries).
Campaigns targeting the internal market will include actions focusing on the EU’s quality systems (€17.1 million). A budget of €28.8 million will be allocated to promote the benefits of eating organic produce, while €12.7 million has been earmarked to encourage the consumption of fresh fruit and vegetables.
