13/12/2024 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 13 December, the European Commission published a public consultation on the public procurement directives. It intends to present a proposal for the revision of these texts in the third quarter of 2025. The aim is to adapt the existing framework in order to promote green projects and digitalisation, as well as strengthen the EU’s resilience. In recent months, many players have defended the principle of European preference in certain sectors in order to foster the competitiveness of the continent’s businesses. While the Commission remains committed to the principle of free competition, it is considering exceptions in strategic sectors. As part of the public consultation, interested parties can express their views on the effectiveness of the current directives, particularly in terms of promoting fair competition.
