13/12/2024 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 13 December, the Conference of Presidents of the European Parliament’s political groups (CoP) finally approved, by written procedure, the transformation of the ‘Security and Defence’ (SEDE) and ‘Public Health’ (SANT) sub-committees into fully-fledged committees, as well as the creation of sub-committees on the ‘European Democratic Shield’ and on the ‘Housing Crisis in the EU’. In a previous publication, Agence Europe detailed the objectives of these four entities (see EUROPE 13543/14). The decision taken by the CoP will enable all MEPs to vote on these changes from Wednesday 18 December in Strasbourg. They will also decide on the terms of reference of each committee and the number of people who will sit on it. The names of the members will be announced at a later date. (LM)
