06/12/2024 (Agence Europe) – In addition to a progress report on the negotiations underway to revise animal transport legislation, on Tuesday 10 December the European agriculture ministers will have the opportunity to react to a note from Sweden, supported by Austria, Denmark, Finland, Germany and Slovenia, calling on the European Commission to present “ various initiatives around animal welfare and thus fulfil the commitment made by the previous European Commission in response to the European Citizens’ Initiative ‘End the Cage Age’”. These countries are asking the Commission to “put forward the remaining proposals for an ambitious revision and amendments of the EU’s animal welfare legislation as soon as possible and to include them already in the 2025 work programme”.
