06/12/2024 (Agence Europe) – On 5 December, the Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators (ACER) published its first set of country factsheets on key indicators for the retail electricity markets in the EU Member States and Norway. This completes ACER’s 2023 retail market monitoring report. The factsheets detail market highlights, consumption trends, progress towards the 2030 decarbonisation targets and the state of adoption of electric vehicles. In analysing these factsheets, ACER notes that demand flexibility remains limited, with the majority of consumers in most countries having fixed-price contracts that prevent them from “actively participating in electricity markets”. According to the agency, “access to smart meters” should make it possible to offer and adopt more flexible contracts. To see the sheets: https://aeur.eu/f/eof (PLD)
