02/12/24 (Agence Europe) – The new regulation on the Single European Sky (SES2+) came into force on Sunday 1 December, and should contribute to a more efficient and sustainable European airspace (see EUROPE 13509/13). It aims to encourage air navigation service providers to achieve efficiency gains and adopt modern technologies in order to reduce congestion in European airspace and provide better quality services. It also aims to promote innovation and the development of new services in the sector. This new regulation should reduce the environmental impact of flights by setting climate and environmental performance targets for air navigation service providers and encouraging airlines to adopt more sustainable practices through a fair pricing system.
