European Commission proposing to ban flufenacet, a herbicide based on forever pollutants

02/12/2024 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission has proposed a ban on flufenacet, while the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has recognised this herbicide as an endocrine disruptor for thyroid function. On Tuesday 12 November, through PAN Europe, a coalition of 49 environmental and health organisations called on the European Commission and the Member States to immediately ban this pesticide based on forever pollutants (PFAS) from Bayer and BASF (see EUROPE B13522A16).
