An open letter signed by over 350 companies calls for adoption of an ambitious international treaty against plastic pollution in Busan

30/10/2024 (Agence Europe)More than 350 companies called for reductions in plastic production at the COP16 biodiversity conference in Cali on Wednesday 30 October. Entitled ‘Champions of Change’, the initiative they have signed was launched by Greenpeace, the Plastic Pollution Coalition and the Break Free from Plastic Movement. The signatories are calling for a cap on plastic production, the gradual elimination of single-use plastics (“starting with plastic sachets”), ambitious targets for reuse and the adoption of a justice-based approach “that centers the rights of communities most impacted by plastic pollution”. Companies are urging negotiators to adopt an ambitious international treaty against plastic pollution, in Busan, South Korea, at the end of November. See the open letter: https://aeur.eu/f/e31 (FS)
