08/10/24 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 3 October, the European Commission adopted a regulation establishing a fisheries closure for common hake in geographical sub-areas 8, 9, 10 and 11 of the General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean (GFCM) caught by demersal longliners flying the Italian flag and having an overall length equal to or greater than 18 metres and less than 24 metres. According to the information sent to the Commission, the maximum fishing effort authorised for common hake in the sub-areas concerned and applicable to demersal longliners flying the Italian flag is deemed to have been reached for 2024.
