EU releases further €150,000 to help victims of Typhoon Yagi

30/09/2024 (Agence Europe)On Friday 27 September, the European Union released a further €150,000 to help 130,000 people affected by Typhoon Yagi in several Vietnamese provinces. This amount is in addition to the €650,000 already allocated to the country, bringing total aid to over €2.3 million for Vietnam, Myanmar, Laos and the Philippines (see EUROPE 13487/12). This aid is part of the EU’s overall contribution to the Disaster Response Emergency Fund (DREF) of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), and will enable the Vietnamese Red Cross to provide food, household items and subsidies for rebuilding houses, as well as health and hygiene services.
