On Monday 30 September, the President of the National Assembly of Bhutan, the President of the National Council, the EU Ambassador and the President of the Bhutan Chamber of Commerce and Industry launched the ‘Parliament-Private Sector Collaboration Strategy’.
The launch ceremony took place in the presence of ambassadors and representatives from 17 European Union Member States, during their joint visit to Bhutan to discuss the strengthening of the EU-Bhutan partnership.
The collaborative project, part of the EU-funded Voice for Green Change Partnership (V4GCP), aims to ensure that the voice of business is heard in the legislative process.
It therefore strengthens the collaboration between the Parliament of Bhutan and the private sector to promote sustainable economic growth, as part of the 13th five-year plan aiming to achieve a “developed Bhutan” by 2034.
The main aspects are legislative commitment, promoting transparency and responsibility within the private sector, and improving communication with companies, including the organisation of an annual meeting between Parliament and the private sector. (Original version in French by Pauline Denys)
