30/09/24 (Agence Europe) – On Saturday 28 September, the spokesman for the European External Action Service welcomed the agreement to resolve the dispute over the leadership of the Central Bank of Libya (CBL), “ under which the Libyan House of Representatives and the High State Council have established the mechanism, criteria and timeline for the appointment of a CBL Governor, Deputy Governor and Board of Directors”. In a press release, he urged the signatory parties to work swiftly towards the full and effective implementation of the agreement. Welcoming the facilitation efforts undertaken by the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) to reach this agreement, the spokesman said that the EU continued to strongly support the role of the United Nations and UNSMIL “in working towards a peaceful, stable and secure Libya”.
