24/09/24 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 23 September,ILGA-Europe published a report on the results of its ‘Come Out 4 Europe’ campaign, launched in March for the European elections (see EUROPE 13366/31). The aim of this initiative was to encourage future MEPs to sign a commitment to protect and promote the human rights of LGBTI people. The dedicated website featured a form for candidates, an interactive ranking of signed commitments by country and sharing tools for voters. A total of 1,110 candidates signed the charter, of whom 164 were elected, representing 24.17% of the European Parliament. ILGA-Europe, the umbrella organisation for LGBTI rights associations across the continent, launched the campaign to mobilise voters and ensure political representation committed to the fight for equality and fundamental rights.
