24/09/24 (Agence Europe) – According to the Official Journal of the European Union of 24 September, the European Union has granted assistance worth €13 million to the army of North Macedonia via the ‘European Peace Facility’. The aim is to contribute to strengthening the army’s resources and capabilities “in order to enhance national and regional security, stability and resilience in the defence sector” and to increase its operational effectiveness, enhance compliance with EU standards and improve interoperability. Strengthening North Macedonia’s capacity to participate in CSDP missions and operations and in the EU Battlegroups is another priority. Specifically, the aid will fund technologies related to intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, electronic warfare and electromagnetic intelligence, logistics, engineering equipment and information and communication systems.
