06/09/2024 (Agence Europe) – In a legal act published on Friday 6 September, the Council of the European Union decided to extend the EU’s CSDP military training mission in the Central African Republic (EUTM RCA) by one year, until 19 September 2025. “The financial reference amount for the common costs of EUTM RCA for the period from 20 September 2024 to 19 September 2025 is €5.84 million”, adds the decision. Romanian Brigadier General Nicolae-Gabriel Oros will become Force Commander of the mission on 27 September, replacing his compatriot Cornel Tonea-Bălan (see EUROPE 13468/14). In July, the ambassadors of the EU Member States, meeting within the Political and Security Committee, recommended that a strategic evaluation of EUTM RCA, as well as of the EUAM RCA civilian advisory mission, be carried out “in due course”.
