24/07/24 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 24 July, the European Commission approved the revised post-Covid-19 recovery plan presented by Luxembourg, adding a ‘REPowerEU’ chapter designed to accelerate the energy transition and reduce dependence on Russian fossil fuels (see EUROPE 13411/20). This chapter includes a new reform to promote sustainable biogas production and new investment in energy efficiency, renewable energies and zero-emission mobility. In total, 80% of the funds allocated to the Luxembourg plan will be used to finance measures in support of climate objectives. There are also grants for people renovating their homes and for businesses installing solar panels on their premises. The revised Luxembourg plan has been allocated €241 million in the form of grants alone. Further information (in French): https://aeur.eu/f/c8p (MB)
