11/07/2024 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 11 July, the Conference of Presidents (CoP) of the European Parliament’s political groups adopted the draft agenda for the constitutive plenary session to be held from Tuesday 16 to Friday 19 July. The election of the European People’s Party candidate, Ursula von der Leyen, as President of the European Commission is scheduled for Thursday 18 July at 13:00, following a speech by the German Christian Democrat on the same morning, followed by a debate with MEPs. On Wednesday 17 July, they will discuss the June European Summit with the Presidents of the European Council and the European Commission. According to a parliamentary source, this will be an opportunity to react to the chaotic start of the Hungarian Presidency of the Council of the EU (see EUROPE 13450/5).
