09/07/24 (Agence Europe) – In 2023, passenger traffic on the entire European airport network increased by 19% compared with the previous year, according to the annual safety review published by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) on Monday 8 July. A total of 2.3 billion passengers travelled through European airports in 2023. Traffic will reach 95% of 2019 levels, before the Covid-19 pandemic. There have been 7.3 million safe flights in Europe, without a single fatal accident, involving a European operator for complex and non-complex aircraft. While this is positive news, it was only possible to achieve this result thanks to the entire industry making safety a priority. “There is no room for complacency when it comes to aviation safety”, stresses EASA.
