Fourteen new European university alliances have been selected under Erasmus+ programme

On Friday 28 June, the European Commission announced the results of the Erasmus+ 2024 call for the ‘European Universities’ initiative, designed to support a European strategy for universities. Fourteen new alliances join the existing 50, each receiving up to €14.4 million over four years.

As a result, the target set in the European strategy for universities of having at least 60 alliances by mid-2024 has been achieved.

These 64 alliances bring together more than 560 higher education establishments of all types across Europe, from 35 EU member countries and partner countries such as Albania and Turkey. They enable students to study in several European countries and in different languages, while working with businesses, local authorities and civil society organisations.

With almost 2200 associated partners, these alliances contribute to regional innovation and the international competitiveness of higher education in Europe.

The call also supports the creation of a community of practice to strengthen learning between alliances and disseminate results within the education sector.
