EU is organising its action at United Nations around five main priorities

On Monday 24 June, the EU Council approved conclusions defining the priorities that the EU will follow at the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly (September 2024 - September 2025).

There are five of them: reaffirming our commitment to the foundations of a rules-based international order, supporting international peace and security, advancing sustainable development and financing for development, addressing the triple global crisis (climate change, biodiversity loss and pollution) and fostering trust through a more effective multilateral system.

The conclusions also reiterate the EU’s determination to promote multilateral solutions based on the United Nations Charter, support the UN Secretary-General’s campaign for “peace in all its dimensions” and call for international cooperation to this end.

The EU Council pledges that the EU will continue to work towards strengthening the respect, protection and fulfilment of all human rights.
