23/05/2024 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission has sent an additional reasoned opinion to Croatia for failing to fully transpose EU rules on promoting the use of energy from renewable sources under Directive (EU) 2018/2001. The Commission sent a letter of formal notice to Croatia in July 2021, followed by a reasoned opinion in May 2022. It then brought an action against Croatia before the Court of Justice of the EU, primarily because the country had failed to notify a correlation table that specified where the country had transposed each provision. After receiving a table, the Commission decided to suspend proceedings before the Court. However, once they had assessed the table, the European Commission came to the conclusion that the transposition of the directive had still not been completed. Croatia has 2 months to take the necessary measures. (PLD)
