21/05/2024 (Agence Europe) – On Sunday 19 May, China announced the launch of an anti-dumping investigation into polyoxymethylene from the EU, the United States, Japan and Taiwan. This thermoplastic is used in automotive parts, electronic equipment, industrial machinery, medical devices and construction materials. The request for an investigation was made by several Chinese producers in April, who are denouncing an increase in imports of this product from the target countries at prices they claim are “below fair value”. The Chinese Ministry of Commerce believes that this investigation and the potential tariffs that could result from it are in line with World Trade Organization rules, which is not the case with the increase in US tariffs on a number of Chinese products (see EUROPE 13410/12), according to the Chinese state media China Daily.
