02/04/2024 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 4 April in Brussels, the chief negotiators for Serbia and Kosovo will attempt to find a solution to the issue of Priština’s ban on transactions in Serbian dinars (see EUROPE 13342/15). During the discussions, emphasis should be placed on the consequences of such a decision. A previous meeting on the subject took place on 25 March this year, but the two parties, who presented their respective approaches to resolving the problem, were unable to reach an agreement (see EUROPE 13379/21). The decision taken by the Kosovan Central Bank should have taken effect on 1 February. At the same time, the Commission, fearing the impact of the ban on transactions in Serbian dinars in Kosovo on Serbian nationals in the country, called on Priština to introduce a transitional period.
