14/03/2024 (Agence Europe) – On the 13th anniversary of the peaceful demonstrations in Syria and their brutal repression, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell, on Wednesday 13 March, called for this “unresolved conflict” not to be forgotten. He reiterated his call for a lasting and comprehensive political solution for Syria, in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution 2254. “We must ensure that those responsible for human rights violations and serious breaches of international humanitarian law committed by all parties, in particular by the Syrian regime and its allies, are held to account“, added Mr Borrell. He announced that the 8th Brussels Conference on the Future of Syria and the Region would be held on 30 April for the civil society segment and on 27 May for the Ministerial segment. (CG)
