14/03/2024 (Agence Europe) – With 316 votes in favour, 186 against and 31 abstentions, the plenary session of the European Parliament on Thursday 14 March endorsed Carlo Alberto Manfredi Selvaggi, nominated by the Italian government, as a candidate for the Court of Auditors of the European Union. Mr Manfredi Selvaggi has worked at the Italian Court of Auditors since 1997: as Substitute Prosecutor General until 2005, then as Deputy Prosecutor General until 2021. He has been a coordinator of the mission structure for the national recovery and resilience plan at Italy’s Presidency of the Council of Ministers since May 2023. The mandate of the previous Italian member of the court, Pietro Russo, expired on Thursday 29 February. The final decision on the appointment of Mr Manfredi Selvaggi, for a term of 6 years, rests with the EU Council, following this consultation of the European Parliament. (AD)
