11/03/2024 (Agence Europe) – According to data published on Thursday 7 March by Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union, women are still in the minority in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). In 2021, women accounted for 32.8% of graduates in these disciplines in the EU, representing a very slight increase of 0.3 percentage points on the previous year. Among the Member States, Romania (42.5%), Poland (41.5%), Greece (40.9%) and Italy (39.0%) stand out with the highest proportions of female STEM graduates, well above the European average. At the other end of the spectrum, the lowest shares were recorded in Belgium (27.4%), Spain and Germany (both 27.7%) and Austria (28.0%). (NP)
