176 European electricity transmission projects and 33 storage projects will be assessed in ENTSO-E’s next Ten-Year Network Development Plan

The project portfolio for the next edition of the Ten-Year Network Development Plan (TYNDP) includes 176 transmission projects and 33 storage projects, according to the European Network of Transmission System Operators (ENTSO-E) on Monday 4 March.

On 29 February, ENTSO-E published this provisional list of electricity infrastructure projects that will be assessed in the next biannual TYNDP aimed at identifying infrastructure gaps. These projects can also be viewed on an interactive map.

The TYNDP is a two-year process initiated by ENTSO-E, starting with the creation of scenarios for the European electricity network in 2030 and 2040, followed by the identification of potential investments to deliver economic, environmental and security of supply benefits, and concluding with a cost-benefit analysis of the proposed infrastructure projects.

The next step will be to publish the final draft of the TYNDP 2024 scenarios, expected in April 2024. The publication of the system needs study and the results of the cost-benefit analysis of the projects are scheduled for winter 2024.
