06/03/24 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 5 March, the Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators (ACER) announced that the Dutch national regulator, ACM, had asked it on 18 February for a six-month extension to adopt coordinated decisions with the Norwegian NRA, NVE-RME, on hedging cross-zonal electricity risks. This request follows the regulation on the allocation of forward capacity, which requires NRAs to assess hedging opportunities. In the absence of such opportunities, they must decide to grant long-term transport rights or take other measures. ACER plans to rule on ACM’s application by April, while the European Free Trade Association’s Surveillance Authority will decide on the extension for NVE-RME on the basis of a draft text from ACER.
