06/03/24 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 6 March, The Left group in the European Parliament announced the implementation of a menstrual leave policy within its secretariat. This measure, which has been tested by the group since October 2023, offers the possibility of taking up to three days per month without medical evidence. Working from home for three extra days a week on top of the usual working arrangement is another alternative. Following the trial, the Group’s Secretary General, Francisco Orozco Dopico, encouraged the European Parliament administration to follow suit, given the “really positive results”. He did, however, mention the guilt associated with this leave for those who take it, despite their physical suffering. “So there’s definitely more work to be done normalising these kinds of policies”, he said.
