26/02/2024 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 22 February, the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) published a report stating that there were reasonable grounds to believe that Da’esh had fired artillery munitions containing sulphur mustard, affecting at least 11 people in September 2015 in Marea, Syria. On 25 February 2024, the EU strongly condemned the use of these “heinous” chemical weapons. “Impunity for these horrible acts must not be tolerated. It is now up to the international community to take appropriate action. In light of this new report, the European Union is ready to consider introducing further measures as appropriate”, warned the EU High Representative in a press release. He added that the EU was determined to ensure that those responsible for the use of these weapons were held fully accountable. See the report: https://aeur.eu/f/b0s (CG)
