26/02/2024 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 26 February, after the text had been adopted by the European Parliament (see EUROPE 13345/15), the EU Council adopted a regulation amending a 2017 text (EU/2017/2107) laying down management, conservation and control measures applicable in the area covered by the Convention of the International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas (ICCAT) and the 2023 regulation (EU/2023/2053) establishing a multi-annual management plan for bluefin tuna in the Eastern Atlantic and the Mediterranean. The changes concern the obligation for Member States to draw up multiannual fishing plans and annual fishing capacity management plans for tropical tuna. The text also covers, in particular, the drawing up of annual plans for bluefin tuna and a ban on the automatic carry-over of unused quotas. These regulations are therefore deemed to have been adopted. See the regulations: https://aeur.eu/f/b17 (EV)
