22/02/2024 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 22 February, the European Commission announced the release of over €233 million from the LIFE programme - which aims to support the implementation of the EU’s environmental and climate ambitions - to fund 12 strategic projects. Half of these are dedicated to biodiversity and nature in Finland, Italy, Ireland, France, the Czech Republic and Austria. Three other strategic projects will focus on climate change, including the implementation of sustainable mobility plans in Bulgaria and adaptation to climate change in the Pyrenees. Finally, three projects will focus on the environment, with the designation of at least 30% of Ireland’s marine territories as marine protected areas, and the improvement of water quality in Lithuania.
