The vote on the report by Róża Thun Und Hohenstein (Renew Europe, Polish) on the revision of the rules governing late payments, which was due to take place on Thursday 22 February, has been postponed.
Although most of the groups had agreed on compromise amendments (see EUROPE 13352/8), Renew Europe asked to postpone the vote at the Coordinators’ meeting on the same day, according to three sources close to the dossier. The group said it needed time to clarify its position.
The EPP, ECR, ID and The Left groups supported the postponement of the report, while the S&D and Greens/EFA groups wanted to keep on with it.
The rapporteur would also have preferred an early vote, and expressed her disappointment at this last-minute change. “We now need to find the necessary support for the compromises we have reached, because they are very good”, she told EUROPE.
This text on late payments has been the subject of an intense lobbying campaign in recent weeks in the European Parliament, with divergent interests among companies depending on their size.
The vote in the IMCO committee should take place on 21 March, to allow a vote in the plenary session in April. (Original version in French by Léa Marchal)
